18" (46 cm.) Pale bisque shoulderhead with rounded facial modeling, almond-shaped cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes and arched brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with shapely torso, bisque arms from above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent, body especially clean and firm, four fingers restored. Marks: E. 4 Depose B. Comments: Eugene Constant Barrois, circa 1865,the model was commissioned especially for that firm as evidenced by his signature on the doll. Value Points: very beautiful early poupee whose pale bisque is enhanced by delicate blushing, original wig with paper label, sturdy body, rarer bisque arms, with antique teal blue silk gown with beading, undergarments, leather ankle boots signed C.C.
