Pressed bisque socket head with plump cheeks and chin, small blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, lightly feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with loose ball joints, straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 2. Comments: mystery maker, French, circa 1880,the facial modeling has strong resemblance points to both early Steiner bebes and Brevete model of Bru. Value Points: superb early portrait bebe with very expressive features enhanced by choicest painting of facial features and blush on eyelids and cheeks, original body and body finish, wonderful antique costume of maroon velvet with peach silk contrast, maroon velvet bonnet, original undergarments, black stockings, leather shoes signed "A La Providence, 74 Rue de Rivoli" indicating a Parisian millinery shop that created doll shoes from 1880-1885.
