14" (36 cm.) Wax-over-paper mache doll has sculpted black curly hair, blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth, carton torso containing bellows, wire upper arms and legs, wooden lower arms and legs, painted argyle stockings and black buckle shoes, holes in hands for holding bells. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1865,when torso squeezed, the bellows causes the head to turn from side to side, foot to kick, hands to ring the bells. Value Points: rare doll with original rare sculpted hair and tam, original Scottish costume and unusual painted stockings, mechanism functions well.
