24" (61 cm). Pressed bisque socket head with elongated and full cheeks, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eyeshadow, feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin, separately modeled pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose- ball-jointed body with plump limbs, straight wrists, antique aqua cashmere wool dress with silk panel, lace collar and sleeve trim, undergarments, black silk stockings and leather shoes, fancy early bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9 EJ (head) Jumeau Medaille d or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1882,the earliest model of the bebe marked EJ. Value Points: few examples of the early period EJ appear in this large size; intended for a select luxury market, the bebe has exemplary painting and modeling.
