20" (51 cm). Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, thickly brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, open mouth, outlined lips, two rows of tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, original fleeced mohair wig, carton moule torso containing mechanism, hinged legs with kid over wooden block thighs, composition arms and lower legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jules Steiner, the bebe marketed as "Bebe Gigoteur", circa 1880,when keywound, the bebe turns head from side to side, waves arms and legs, and cries "mama". Value Points: fine all- original example of the keynote doll, functions well, wears original costume and shoes.
