20" (51 cm). Bisque socket head, large brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, early composition and wooden fully-jointed body with attached ball-joints and straight wrists, antique rose cotton dress with bretelles, undergarments, rose kid ankle boots, stockings. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G.K. 34-29. Comments: Gebruder Kuhnlenz, circa 1885,the model is known as the "Kuhnlenz Bru" for its resemblance to the French Bru bebe whose market the Kuhnlenz firm hoped to capture. Value Points: outstanding example of early German child doll with exemplary bisque, sculpting, painting, original body and body finish, wig, costume.
