22" (56 cm.) h. 13"w. Arranged upon an ebony wooden base is an elaborate ormolu arrangement featuring symbolic objects of a fruitful marriage, with eleven various mirrors and tufted cushion upon which is resting an elaborate original wax orange blossom coronet. The arrangement is protected by a glass dome. Excellent condition. French, circa 1880, the selection of a wedding globe to symbolize marriage was a long-time tradition in French society; the young couple chose objects for inclusion which symbolized their hope for the future.
