20" (51 cm). Brown-complexioned bisque socket head, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, black eyeliner, black painted lashes and thick brows with decorative glaze, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, black human hair over cork pate, French brown composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Dep 9. Comments: circa 1895, from a rare series of doll heads commissioned from Simon and Halbig for Jumeau. Value Points: the closed mouth bebe has outstanding quality of bisque and complexion with superb painting including subtle cheek blushing and coral lips, original Jumeau body, and wearing antique original Marquis costume of maroon velvet with metallic gilt trim, embroidered silk vest, Bebe pin with "ruby" center.
