28" (71 cm). Bisque socket head with slender facial modeling of adult woman, elongated throat, brown glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, defined dimpled chin, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig in upswept fashion, original composition bell-jointed lady body with defined bosom, definition of chemise shape at bosom, waist, elongated shapely limbs with strong-shaped legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S&H 1159 dep 11 1/2. (head) EDB (impressed body mark). Comments: Edmund Daspres, the successor to the Steiner firm, deposed this doll, named "La Patricienne" in 1905,having exclusive body made only for this model; in its earliest editions, such as this one, the body was hand-sculpted. Value Points: possibly a prototype or custom production, no other model of this doll is known to exist in the 28" size, with closed mouth and unique definition of corset edge on bosom; the doll has exceptional quality of bisque, sculpting and painting, original wig, and wears original costume of hand-stitched embroidered undergarments, net stockings, cream kid shoes, ivory silk satin gown, silk wire-framed bonnet, mother-of pearl fan with hand-painted design, gilt cross inset with turquoise flowers, lorgnette, and pearl drop earrings.
