15" (38 cm). One-piece carved wooden head and torso with rich ebony-black complexion, egg-shaped head with elongated throat, flat-back torso, black enamel inset eyes, carved nose, closed mouth with painted lips, black hair under original elaborately wrapped turban with feathered headdress and attached fanciful earrings, cloth upper arms, wooden lower arms and fingers, crudely carved wooden legs with hip and knees jointing. Condition: generally excellent, fingers broken on both hands. Comments: English, circa 1780. Value Points: very rare doll with superbly preserved complexion, original body and elaborate original Turkish costume comprising headdress, loose trousers with ankle wraps, tiny red kidskin slippers, flowing gown with metallic and bead trim.
