24" (61 cm). Solid domed paper mache head with delicately painted baby hair at sides of head, black glass enamel inset eyes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, paper mache shoulderplate, muslin torso enclosing bellows mechanism, paper mache lower torso and upper legs, muslin mid- thighs, wooden arms and lower legs, paper mache hands, antique baby gown. Condition: very good, some small chips at neck socket. Marks: (illegible numbers of letters at back of head and shoulderplate). Comments: Germany, circa 1865. Value Points: large model of the taufling baby with appealing expression, maker's mark.
