18" seated. Paper mache head with gofum-finished white complexion portraying man, black enamel inset eyes in oval shape, black painted brows, closed mouth in downcast expression, straw- filled body posed seating with outstretched wooden carved arms, black human hair with painted detail of fine hairs at sides of head. Wearing elaborate brocade silk woven costume, black woven boots. Late 19th century.
