Description
A brass bird cage with gilded metal rails and hinged door has velvet interior floor upon which is a bronze bird perch decorated with silk leaves and flowers. A feathered bird rests upon the bird perch. Movements: the bird rises up and down as though fluttering, shakes tail feathers, moves head from side to side, opens and closes his beak, and the bird double chirps ("gui-gui"). By Blaise Bontems, France, circa 1890. 21" (54 cm).
