Description
A wooden cabinet has glass-front room in its upper half, portraying a mid-19th century drawing room as a dancing school. The room is furnished with silk draperies, full-length mirrors, tapestries and a crystal chandelier. Five wooden dolls with carved hair and original dancing costumes are posed on a stage in the room center, a bisque doll sits at the piano, and a man sits nearby with violin. Movements: the dolls move up and down and twirl about as though dancing, the doll plays the piano and the man strums the violin. Maker unknown. Circa 1880. 25" (65 cm). Various movements. Six tunes.
