Movements: the balancing rod twirls causing the small doll to appear to dance and spin around; the juggler strums the guitar and his eyelids open and close From the earliest works of Jean Roullet, with mechanism by Theroude, according to new research by Christian Bailly. Few of the early weighted- foot models exist today. Later, a similar automaton, but with base, was offered by Roullet & Decamps depicting a clown balancing a spinning toy on his nose; the price was 90 francs, in the luxury price range. Jean Roullet, circa 1867. 25" (64 cm) man only. Three movements. One tune.
