Description
A bisque-head lady with very delicate complexion, pale blue enamel inset eyes, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig, carton torso with adult female shape, metal hands, posed in standing position on tin step-boxed platform that is hidden beneath silk gown, three wheeled base. The lady wears a rich ivory and blue silk fashionable gown with matching chapeau, and carries an inlay wooden violin. The bisque head is from Barrois. Movements: she delicately nods her head in a series of side-glancing and up and down moves, strums the violin with both hands; both arms also move as well as her hands creating a very realistic and rare action, and she glides forward and in circles. France, circa 1875. 22" (56 cm). Five movements. One tune.
