Description

A bisque-head girl with brown glass paperweight eyes, closed mouth, brunette mohair wig, carton torso and legs, and bisque hands, is standing upon a velvet-covered wooden platform. She wears bronze and ivory silk dress with lace and silk ribbon trim, red silk shoes and stockings, bronze silk bonnet with red chiffon lining and floral applique, and holds a bone folding fan and lace- edged hankie. The bisque head, by Jumeau, is marked Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4. Music label on base has hand-written script noting the name of the tune, Barbe Bleu Bontemplan. Movements: she turns her head to the right and nods, fans herself, then turns to the left, nods and appears to delicately dab her face with hankie. Leopold Lambert, France. Circa 1895. 20" (51 cm).
