A bisque-head doll with blue glass eyes, mohair lashes, extravagant eyeshadow, open mouth, teeth, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs, bisque forearms, is posed on tiptoe on a maroon velvet covered wooden base, her left leg hinged at the hip and crossed at the knee in dancing pose. She wears rose silk and crepe dress with lace trim. Movements: the doll twirls around and around on tiptoe, her left leg occasionally moving in dance step, her head leaning from side to side, her arms moving up and down. The model represents the American modern dancer, Loie Fuller, who swept the Paris theatre scene at the beginning of the 20th century, and was known for her dreamy, butterfly like movements. By Leopold Lambert, France. Circa 1910. 23" (59 cm). Four movements. Two tunes.
