Description

A bisque-head man with blue glass eyes, closed mouth, portrait like expression, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs, metal hands, is standing on flat base, holding a wooden mandolin with inlay design. He is wearing pale green silk Marquis costume with gold embroidery, gilt metallic trim, matching hat with silk ribbons, shoes. Movements: he turns head from side to side and nods; he strums the mandolin. By Jean Roullet, France, circa 1880. 22" (56 cm). Three movements. One tune.
