Description

Seated on a green velvet chair is a composition-head monkey with glass eyes, leather eyelids, painted reddish monkey complexion with dark shadow around, eyes, nose and mouth, fur hair, double-hinged mouth, double row of teeth, carton torso and legs, composition hands. The monkey is dressed as an aristocratic Marquis with long silk jacket with striped cuffs and lapels, yellow silk vest, silk pants, silk shoes with ankle ties, and a velvet Marquis hat with trim. The wooden harp is painted red and blue with gold leaf trim. Movements: he turns his head is series of circular motions, eyelids open and close, mouth double-hinges open and closed, and his hands strum the harp; in one particular sequence, they pause and vibrate the strings in time to the music.
