Description
Seated upon a paper mache sculpted tree trunk is a small bisque-headed doll with brown glass enamel eyes, closed mouth, carton torso and lower legs, bisque forearms. He is wearing gold and red silk costume with muslin pants, turban, red silk shoes, and carries an inlay wooden mandolin. The head is marked F. 1 G. Movements: he turns his head from side and side, and nods, while strumming the mandolin. By Gustav Vichy, France, circa 1885. 15" (38 cm). Two movements. One tune. Exhibit: Bagatelle,Paris,1993.
