Description
Seated upon a green velvet covered stool is a leather-faced monkey with green glass eyes, leather eyelids, double row of teeth, hinged jaw, fur beard and tufts at side and top of head, carton torso and legs, metal hands. He wears silk Marquis costume in blue and gold with fancy buttons, lace jabot, leather leggings and shoes, and holds a violin and bow in his hands. Movements: he turns his head side to side, blinks eyelids, opens and closes his mouth, and plays the violin. France, circa 1875. 14" (35 cm). Four movements. One tune.
