Description
A wooden based bird cage with rich gold leaf finish has metal ormolu fence, heavy cast brass ball finial and handle, and green velvet interior floor. A heavy bronze bird perch intertwined with leaves and flowers is on the interior. A brown feathered bird sits on the perch. Movements: the bird turns head from side to side, shakes tail feathers, opens and closes beak and double-chirps ("gui-gui"). France. Circa 1880. 20" (52 cm). Exhibits: Hospice Saint-Charles, Liege.
