Description
A large wooden-framed tableau mecanique combines engravings in a collage effect with painted detail to create a trick of the eye, trompe d'oeil. The trompe d'oeil features memorabilia concerning the birth of Henri IV, king of France. A clock is included within the scene. Maker Unknown, France, circa 1865. 53" x 38" (135 x 97 cm).
