Description
A bird cage with gilded wooden platform, embossed gilt metal bars and solid brass handle, has velvet interior base and a bronze bird perch intertwined with leaves and flowers; one bird is resting upon the perch, and the second is on the ground. Movements: each bird moves its head from side to side, tail feathers up and down, and beak open and closed; the smaller bird also bobs up and down. Each bird chirps ("gui-gui") in a realistic manner and in synchronism with the beak. Blaise Bontems, France. 1880. 21" (53 cm). Four movements and "gui-gui".
