19"l (48 cm). A wooden framed one room school house has paper lithographed surface to simulate bricks, doorways, clock and label "Ecole Superieure". The front hinges open to reveal fitted interior with paper parquet flooring, faux-windows with scenes behind the eisenglass panes, three wooden double school desks with attached seats and inkwells, teacher's wooden desk with inkwell, blackboard, globe, maps. In the classroom are seven small bisque-head glass-eyed dolls as students wearing black school uniforms (one with dunce cap),and a larger bisque head teacher with glass eyes. Very good condition, dolls excellent. France, circa 1900. Excellent detail of furnishings and accessories in the well-equipped school room.
