10" (25 cm.) l. wagon. The ensemble comprises a red wooden animal cage with hinged door and cage sides, having original gilt lettering "Schoenhut’s Humpty Dumpty Circus, The Greatest Show on Earth", along with two clowns, each with rare early two-part heads and each wearing original patterned costumes. Also included is Style I elephant with glass eyes and having original howdah blanket and headpiece, and Style I giraffe with glass eyes and carved open mouth. Condition: overall very good, elephant lacking rubber tip of trunk, some scuffing on wagon and giraffe, but original finishes on all. Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1900. Value Points: a delightful ensemble with rare features including original-costumed clowns with earliest two-part heads, and original howdah and headpiece on elephant described in their catalog as "extra fine" luxury variation.
