A bisque-headed doll with large blue glass paperweight eyes, dark painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, rose blushed eyeshadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, is standing upon a velvet-covered base. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau 4 (doll) L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1888,when wound and lever released, music plays, and the little girl turns her head from side to side, then up and down, and taps the silk covered drum she holds in her left hand with the Maplewood baton that she holds in her right hand. Value Points: rarer model by the illustrious automaton maker, Lambert, with beautiful music and well-functioning four different movements. The doll wears her original Lambert costume of pale green silk with rose silk ribbons, matching bonnet, and is preserved in original wooden packing box.
