Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked and multi- feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, open mouth, shaded and accented lips, double row of tiny teeth, lambswool wig, carton moule torso containing elaborate mechanism that, when wound, should cause the doll to cry mama, turn head from side to side, and wave limbs in the air. Condition: bisque and doll excellent, mechanism needs repair. Marks: J. Steiner Paris (mechanism inside torso). Comments: Steiner, circa 1880,his model known as Bebe Gigoteur.
