Of black muslin, the all cloth doll has small flat-dimensional face with side- glancing embroidered large eyes and wide beaming embroidered smile, grey yarn hair under red cotton bandana, black muslin body of generous proportions with outstretched arms, mitten hands, defined thumbs, stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: "The Story of Mammy Ginny, from the memory of one who spent her childhood on a Virginia Plantation" (booklet attached to wrist of doll telling the story of Mammy Ginny). Comments: circa 1940,commercial production. Value Points: well-constructed doll with highly characterized, albeit stereotyped, features, the doll has original booklet with photograph of the doll, and wears her original costume.
