Carved wooden shoulderhead portraying a handsome young brown-complexioned man with sculpted tightly curled hair, defined eye sockets, thick black brows, wide rounded nose, closed mouth with very full lips, muslin torso and upper arms and legs, carved wooden lower arms and legs, definition of fingers and toes, antique maroon and green silk Turkish style costume. Condition: very good, original finish with some patina rubs, left forefinger broken off. Comments: Continental, early 19th century. Value Points: unusually large size with handsome characterization, artful attention to sculpting, original finish.
