Description
25" (63 cm). Bisque socket head, large dark blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes with "dot" highlights, rose blushed eyeshadow, widely arched fringed brows, accented eye corners and shaded nostrils, pierced ears, brunette human hand-tied wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Paris 96 (incised, in the manner of Phenix Star markings). Comments: probably Steiner, circa 1895. Value Points: excellent quality of sculpting with beautifully defined philtrum and lip dimples, choice bisque, original wig and body, wonderful antique costume of burgundy wool knit with silk and velvet trim, wooden-handled silk parasol, black leather shoes, original boutique label of Bebe Gesland on torso.
