18" (46 cm). Solid domed paper mache head with cameo-shaped face and elongated throat, black enamel inset eyes, lightly fringed lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with double row of teeth, black painted pate under original brunette human hair wig with attached earrings, pink kid fashion-style body with very shapely torso and limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: the superb early doll wears her original folklore costume from Arles, France comprising brown velvet gown with pagoda style sleeves over lace undersleeves, with elaborate lace fichu,"cravato" lace coiffe with double wings, undergarments, leather slippers and elaborate jewelry befitting her high status in society.
