12" (30 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of plump-faced elderly woman, grey sculpted curls peeking from beneath her fitted green snood with red band and bow, sculpted ears, enamel eyes, well-modeled character and age lines, smiling expression, modeled bosom, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and yellow clogs, original embroidered folklore costume and carrying basket of cabbages. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially fine characterization and rare snood with matching costume.
