Description
Each 12" (30 cm). Each has brown-complexioned paper mache shoulderhead, and hinged jaw that opens and closes when stomach bellows is squeezed, muslin torso, paper mache lower limbs; the man with painted wide-open eyes, white thick painted brows and hair; the woman with attached wire spectacles over glass eyes, painted teeth, black fleecy hair. Condition: man's face is excellent although reglue at neckline (under costume),finish on woman is original albeit crackled. Comments: Germany, circa 1890. Value Points: rare to find novelty dolls with well- working bellows crier and hinged jaws, original factory costumes.
