Description
22" (56 cm). Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with rounded facial modeling and black painted pate, swirled details of painted hair around the face, black glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with double row of tiny teeth, French kid fashion body with shapely torso, gusset jointed limbs, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: very good with typical patina rubs, some patches on kid arms. Comments: for the French market, circa 1850,variations with #248 include facial shape, glass eyes and open mouth. Value Points: rare early doll with original finish and painting.
