30" (76 cm). Pressed bisque swivel head on kid- edged bisque shoulderplate, narrow almond shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner encircles the eye sockets, painted lashes, widely arched feathered brows, mauve eye shadow, shaded nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, separately modeled and applied pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid fashion body with shapely torso, gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees, wearing antique silk and lace Normandy costume with authentic lace coiffe, undergarments, shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 11 (left shoulderplate). Comments: Pierre-Francois Jumeau, circa 1877,the size and superior artistry of the model suggest its production for the 1878 l'Exposition Universelle in Paris. Value Points: the doll is extraordinary not only for its majesty and presence, but also for the unsurpassed quality of its sculpting and painting; original and very sturdy large poupee body.
