Description
4" x 2 1/2" (10 x 6 cm). A heavy gilt bronzed rectangular box with raised 17th-century designs of people in country settings with birds, encircled by elaborate scrolls, contains a mechanical device that simulates the singing of a bird. When keywound and lever activated, the small oval lid pops open, a bird "flies" out, flutters around and sings. Impressed "Germany 1059/H.C.J." Excellent condition.
