11" (28 cm). Maplewood music box with inlay patterns contains a Genevan music box that operates from keywind at the back; at the top of the box is a small bisque doll that is posed upon a metal rod protruding from the lid. When the music plays, the doll dances about in realistic manner. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: original paper label on base indicates the tune is "La Mascotte Polka". Comments: deposed by Claude Jaboulay in France in 1892; the patent drawing is shown in "The Encyclopedia of French Dolls" (Theimer),page 293. Value Points: fine luxury toy is perfectly preserved, original costume and wig, fine music, functions well.
