34" (86 cm). Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with black painted pate, oval shaped face and elongated throat, black enamel glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, defined nostrils, closed mouth with primly set lips, well sculpted unpierced ears, hand-stitched kid fashion body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing at hips, knees, and elbows, stitched and separated fingers and toes. Condition: generally excellent, some body patching. Comments: French, circa 1850. Value Points: the large size of the elegant lady fashion and her artful painting indicate possible production as exhibition model, the doll wearing outstanding antique coral silk gown with padded lining, extended train, lace trim.
