4" (61 cm.) Firmly stuffed black stockinette head with well defined stitch-shaped facial features, cut-out eye sockets with eye whites, black shoe-button eyes, embroidered eyeliner and brows, embroidered lips, black yarn hair cap, original black cotton sateen body with stitch jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, mitten hands, original costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, circa 1895, sometimes attributed to Julia Beecher, of Elmira, New York, circa 1895. Value Points: rare-to-find doll in well-preserved original condition.
