Description
6" (15 cm.) l. A cast iron toy features a monkey seated on a log which is attached to four spoked wheel base and with attached bell at the front. The monkey's right arm is jointed and he is holding a coconut. When the toy is moved along, his arm moves up and down as though trying to crack open the coconut, and causing the bell to ring. Condition: generally excellent, original paint well preserved. Comments: American. N.N. Hill of Connecticut, late 1800s, the toy was named "Monkeymobile" by its maker. Value Points: rare and well-functioning toy, preserved in (worn) original box with illustration and label.
