Description

13" (33 cm). Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, long painted lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig. The head is attached to large ball-shaped torso that separates at the middle for use as silk- lined candy box, with bisque forearms and shortened lower legs with tiny ankles and shaped feet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3. Comments: head by Gaultier, the candy box was commissioned and made for prestigious Parisian candy shop, circa 1885. Value Points: fabulous original condition of the rare early candy box doll, wearing stylized uniform including silk- trimmed tricorn hat, wooden shoes, pantaloons.
