Description
10" x 7" (25 x 18 cm). Heavy card box with rounded corners is richly decorated with appliqued decorative papers and gilt die-cut edging, hinges open to reveal well-fitted interior comprising a large number of miniature boxes with various style decoupage (some scenic, some decorative, one with faux tortoise shell enclosing wooden overpass). The boxes originally held little bon-bons, but according to remnants of contents found later life use as sewing work box. French, circa 1860,Epoque Napoleon III. Excellent condition.
