Ebony black-complexioned bisque socket head, amber brown glass inset eyes with rich jewel-like effect, black painted brows and lashes, accented nostrils, open mouth with shaded lips, four porcelain teeth, black flocked hair over modeling detail, black composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 237 Paris 8. Comments: SFBJ, circa 1910. Value Points: superlative sculpting allows definition of character expression especially laughter wrinkles around the eyes, philtrum and mouth dimples, finest lustrous black complexion and flocked hair, antique costume, all enhanced by larger size suggesting its production as exhibition model.
