3" - 6" (7 - 15 cm). Seventy-two (72) wooden dolls each with painted hair and simplistically painted facial features, simply jointed shoulders and hips, are presented in original fabric costumes with various lace or gilt paper trim, to represent various people and occupations. Included are village people, aristocrats, clowns, wizards, members of the court, children, nurses, Chinese, policemen, and many other characters. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: mid-19th century. Value Points: the collection is outstanding not only for its large number of figures, but also for the comprehensiveness of figure styles and costumes, and for its impeccable original condition of dolls and vibrant costumes.
