Description

12" (30 cm). A bisque headed doll with enamel glass inset eyes, thickly painted one-stroke brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, brunette mohair wig,is attached to a taufling-gowned hollow body; the body separates at the middle for access to hidden candy box. Condition: generally excellent, slight age spotting on costume. Marks: F.G. (scroll, on head). Bonnet Depose (candy box bottom). Comments: the boite de bapteme candy box was presented by Bonnet, circa 1890. Tucked inside is a paper with provenance, the candy box belonging originally to the infant Andre Moenneclaey who later died in WWI. Value Points: wonderfully preserved candy box with white pique taufling gown, lace-edged bib with gilt name "Andre".
