23" (58 cm). Carved wooden head and torso with egg-shaped head, elongated throat, carved hair with centerpart and curls waving in front and around the ears, carved facial features include outlined eyes and nose, closed mouth, dowel jointing at hips and knees, swivel ankles, simplistically made original cloth arms, antique costume and pinafore. Condition: very good, original finish, pleasing patina of paint rubs. Comments: circa 1830. Value Points: large size of early wooden doll that combines artistry of expression with folk art lapses in dimension, such as size of ears, in a pleasing and personal manner.
