Paper Mache Glass-Eyed Clown

Of all paper mache, the clown features a swivel head with bald pate, blue glass inset eyes, highly characterized laughing expression, white complexion with clown decorations, tiny black top hat posed at side of pate, and an over-sized chubby ball-shaped body with hands sculpted as though holding his well- fed tummy, painted clown costume. Condition: generally excellent, original finish is well- preserved with normal minor craquelure. Comments: French, circa 1890,the large size suggests its production for exhibition purposes. Value Points: wonderful size of the delightfully designed clown with rare glass eyes and swivel head, original condition.
