Description
Each 6 1/2" diam (16 cm). Of circular shape, one with removable lid, the other sealed with hanging loop at the back, the boxes each have glass lid enclosing a 17th century style scene; the engraved scenes are each detailed with hand- painted costumes to illuminate the activity. The luxury boxes were presented by prestige confiseries as candy boxes, then later preserved as decorations or treasure boxes. French, early 19th century. Excellent condition.
